New Delhi, India

Delhi is the capital city of India and is thought to be the centre of the state. It is located within the north-central a part of the country on the West Bank of the Yamuna River, adjacent to and just south of Delhi city (Old Delhi) and inside the Delhi national capital territory. The city is popular for its developed culture and heritage. The city hosts a number of the foremost majestic historical monuments and architectural marvels beside beautiful gardens and modern-day entertainment sites. In short, the city could be a delight to people of every age The foundation stone of recent Delhi was laid by Emperor King of England during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. It had been designed by British architects, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker. The new capital was initiated on 13 February 1931, by Viceroy and Governor-General of India Lord Irwin. Though colloquially Delhi and New Delhi are used mutually to visit the capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), these are two distinct entities, with New Delhi forming a little part of the city of Delhi. The capital Region could also be a much larger entity comprising the whole NCT along side adjoining districts in neighbouring states.
